Marine Environmental Consultancy

I work as an Offshore Consents Manager on the Dogger Bank Wind Farm. I lead on underwater noise and fisheries alongside day-to-day consents. I am available for ad-hoc work on vessels or marine consents QC. If you would like to have a chat about other opportunities, get in touch!

I’m a marine environmental specialist with over a decade of experience. I work with developers, operators, and offshore project teams who need expert support navigating marine consents, environmental risks, and regulatory requirements. I support offshore projects through practical and compliant environmental guidance. I help clients secure and manage offshore marine consents, address underwater noise and environmental impacts, engage effectively with fisheries stakeholders, and maintain full compliance throughout offshore operations. My work can include environmental vessel audits and acting offshore as a client representative to ensure environmental commitments are implemented safely and effectively. I deliver this by combining scientific expertise with real-world operational understanding. With a background spanning the British Antarctic Survey, the Scottish Association for Marine Science, and environmental consultancies, I bring experience across polar and temperate marine environments. As a commercially endorsed skipper and diver, I’m able to bridge environmental management with practical offshore experience. Through Leven Environmental Ltd, I support organisations in delivering responsible, compliant, and environmentally sound offshore projects.

  • Most of my experience working has been on survey vessels from skippering, deck crew and doing science. I have worked offshore as a benthic ecologist for a few years too. Sailing wise I have been sailing since I was little on a Sadler 34, I then moved onto a Sadler 25 when I was at Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) and lived out of Dunstaffnage Marina for 2 years sailing all along the west coast of Scotland. I have refitted my own and commercial vessels along with coding numerous vessels as I was the ships ops manager at SAMS for a few years.

  • I have dived all over the world for work, with most of my diving being done in a full face mask and drysuit when in Antarctia for 18 months with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS). I dive in Scotland reguarly. Most of my commercial dive work has been for scientific study with various survey techniques from underwater photography, to quadrats, to benthic cores and so much more.

  • For over a year I led on the Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) Transmission Orkney High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) prebuild subsea cable as a consents manager and led on new inter-island cable connections. I currently work as a consents manager on Dogger Bank Wind Farm and lead on fisheries and reducing under water noise alongside day-to-day consents. I offer my services as a Client Representative.

  • Throughout my 10 years as a marine scientist, one constant has been benthic ecology throughout. Please contact me for details. I offer my services as a Client Representative for Environmental Surveys.
